Our support team is dedicated to providing medical assistance to our doctors and loving attention to our clients. Dr. Neuss is the owner and Director of Packanack Animal Hospital. Dr. Neuss has been practicing veterinarian medicine since 1979 as well as serving the local New Jersey animal community since 1993. He takes a special interest in challenging diagnostic and surgical cases and is often consulted by his colleagues. Dr. Neuss is proud to provide veterinary medicine to the heroes of the Passaic County K-9 Unit, who risk their lives as they partner with the brave officers of the Passaic County Sheriffs Department.

Dr. Neuss is passionate about animal care. His commitment to dogs and cats extends well  beyond New Jersey. Having lived outside of the United States, Dr. Neuss is dedicated to the health of pets who join their families in international travel, as well as the well-being of pets who leave or enter our country on a permanent basis. Dr. Neuss is an accredited United States Department of Agriculture Veterinarian and can advise you on safe international and interstate health practices for your pets, while providing the needed vaccinations and certificates for travel.

Dr. Neuss is a member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association and the New Jersey Veterinarian Medical Association. Dr. Neuss attended Undergraduate school at Rutgers University and earned a Masters degree in Animal Husbandry at the University of Missouri. Dr. Neuss graduated from the University of Shiraz with a Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine.

Dr. Neuss resides in Wayne, New Jersey with his wife Joyce, his mother in law Myrna, his dogs, Maggie and Norm and his cat Luey. He is the proud father of two daughters, Ilysa and Lara. In his free time, Dr. Neuss is an avid golfer and also enjoys playing the piano.

Dr. Lisa M. Confessore provided veterinarian care to Essex County, New Jersey for 17 years prior to joining Packanack Animal Hospital in 2004. She holds a biology degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Doctorate in Veterinarian Medicine from North Carolina State University-College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Confessore is a member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association, the New Jersey Veterinarian Medical Association and the North Jersey Veterinarian Medical Association where she attends monthly continuing education meetings. Dr. Confessore is dedicated to addressing the ever changing needs of dogs and cats throughout each life stage. Dr. Confessore derives great satisfaction by cultivating long term relationships with her clients. She is continually motivated by challenging cases and her professional and collegiate relationship with Dr. Neuss energizes and enhances the diagnostic and treatment process.

Dr. Confessore fills her non-working hours caring for her family and three active teenagers. She enjoys music, New York City , movies and cooking. She fills our staff kitchen with freshly baked goodies and the warmth of her loving personality.

Sharon Capone, DVM

Dr. Capone graduated from Ross University School of Medicine in 1988. She practiced at Shrewsbury Animal Hospital, Marsh Animal Hospital and Alliance Emergency Veterinary Clinic before acquiring her own practice in Pompton Plains, Cassidy Animal Care (CAC). CAC was named after a stray dog who became her family pet and her inspiration.

In 2006, Dr. Capone and her husband, Richard Gries, took the practice on the road as a mobile veterinary service. Soon after, Packanack Animal Hospital became their home base hospital,  providing surgical, medical and support services. In January 2015, Dr. Capone will be settling in as an associate veterinarian at Packanack Animal Hospital. Dr. Capone is excited about being able to provide for her patients in such a well-appointed setting.

Dr. Capone maintains strong relationships with specialists in the area, and enjoys attending monthly educational meetings at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center. Her patients have benefited from advanced diagnostics and treatments for a myriad of disorders.

Dr. Capone and Rich are known for their personal dedication to the importance of companion animals. They enjoy home life with Eli, a shelter dog from Newark who became a therapy dog and a locally well-known character.

Veterinarian Technicians/Assistants

Our hospital technicians are expertly trained and experienced. The duties of a veterinarian technician include: taking x-rays, drawing blood, placing IV catheters and assisting our veterinarians in the operating room and through all medical and dental procedures. They perform numerous procedures while assisting our veterinarians with your pets ever changing needs. The technicians are trained in safe animal holding and in monitoring the medical status of cats and dogs. They have extensive knowledge in animal behavior and can provide tips and information for training. In addition, our technicians are educated to be sensitive to the emotions of our client families as they are faced with difficult medical decisions and loss. We provide our entire staff with professional grief counseling and support as your losses are felt deeply by the staff as well. We are dedicated to staying current on all animal care and our technicians participate in ongoing continuing education.

Dina is Senior Head Technician and Inventory Manager at Packanack Animal Hospital. Dina has been a skilled and dedicated employee since 2007. Dina provides a leadership role in the hospital through supervision of our other technicians, assisting in surgeries and keeping supplies and orders up to date. Dina rescued a Chihuahua, "Tunes" and enjoys being his Mom! Dina was recently married to James and is enjoying their new life and new home.

Cassie Lockward

 Cassie was originally hired to be a part-time receptionist in 2014, and has since become a highly valued Veterinary Technician. Cassie has become very proficient in her role as a Vet Tech and is a welcome addition to the PAH family. Cassie has five cats (two of whom are rescue cats) and two dogs.Cassie attendst FDU and is studying Biology. Cassie hopes to pursue a career in Marine Biology with an concentration on dolphins. For fun, Cassie enjoys attending concerts and traveling. She is also an avid swimmer.

Nick Piccininni

Nick was hired in March of 2014 as an Assistant and is now a Veterinary Technician. Nick has grown into his position and has become a valued asset to PAH. Nick is also very fond of animals. Nick rescued and fostered an entire kitty litter and kept two of the kittens and found homes for the others.  He also has two dogs: Lucky and Vito.

Nick is currently attending Passaic County Community College and is majoring in Biology. Nick hopes to pursue a career in the field of Veterinary Biology.

In his spare time, Nick likes to spend time with his friends, enjoys music and cars.

Ed Freed

Ed has worked at PAH since December of 2014. Ed is the epitome of an "animal lover". - especially dogs! Ed is extremely hard working and efficient. Clients often remark that their pets are "very calm"  when Ed is handling them. Ed started out as an Assistant Technician and has developed into an amazing Veterinary Technician and is a valued addition to the hospital staff.

Ed is married and is a dedicated and caring husband to his wife Jen. In his free time, Ed likes to fish and listen to music. Ed has  two dogs who are sisters: Naboo and Tobi. The dogs are a Golden Retriever and German Shepard Mix.

Reception Staff

Kristine Cimino

Kristine joined our hospital in 2007 and has since become a very valuable employee. She is often the first face that our clients see as they enter the building. Kristine's "people skills" and love of animals combined with her unique sense of humor make her ideally suited for her receptionist position. Kristine has the added responsibility of directing all staff. Kristine is happily married to her husband John. She enjoys cooking, shopping, decorating, music and is a Yankee and Giants fan. Kristine and her family have two dogs: Bowen,  a pampered Chihuahua mix that she rescued several years ago, and Chihuahua named Kara that also rescued. Kristine directs all staff in matters related to the efficiency of day to day hospital work.

Kennel Manager

Holly is our Kennel manager and the office "go to person".  Since 2006, Holly has cared for the canine and feline clients as they wait for and recover from surgery. She soothes and nurtures your special family member, keeping them safe, clean and loved. Holly does a wonderful job decorating the hospital lobby for all of the holidays!  Holly never hesitates to assist in treatment rooms as she is also an expert dog handler and trainer. Holly is a passionate Packanack team member who enjoys the opportunities that are presented to PAH to rescue or help to heal community dogs and cats.  Holly 's passion is German Shepherd's. Two years ago, Holly was a foster for Garden State German Shepherd Rescue. She fostered Karma and has since adopted her. In her spare time, Holly is an avid gardener and maintains a Koi pond.

Practice Manager

Barbara Keefe

Barb was an Executive Director for a non-profit association for eight years prior to joining PAH. Barb brings lots of business experience to her position as the Practice Manager. She is in charge of all financials, customer service, marketing, and social media. Barb has produced two events since joining PAH:  Packanack Animal Hospitals first Open House and this past fall, first ever Adoption Day. Both events were well-received by the community and supported by the PAH vendors. Barb has three children and and a dog which she recently rescued named "Max". In her free time Barb likes to  travel and has been to Europe, South America, Africa, and Russia. In her spare time, Barb likes to read, exercise, music and movies.
